In east central Kansas, Anderson, Coffey, Douglas, Franklin, Geary, Lyon, Morris, Osage, Shawnee and Wabaunsee. In north central Kansas, Clay, Cloud and Ottawa. In northeast Kansas, Jackson, Jefferson, Pottawatomie and Riley. * WHEN...From 7 PM CDT this evening through Tuesday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Thunderstorms are expected to track across north central KS and into parts of eastern KS this evening and late tonight. Heavy rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are possible, leading to localized rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches where grounds are already saturated from recent heavy rain. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

Heat Advisory issued June 8 at 1:46PM CDT until June 9 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Topeka KS * WHAT...Heat index values up to 107 expected. * WHERE...Portions of east central and northeast Kansas. * WHEN...From noon to 9 PM CDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and even heat stroke. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued June 9 at 12:12AM CDT until June 9 at 12:45AM CDT by NWS Topeka KS At 1211 AM CDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Meriden to 4 miles south of Centropolis to Westphalia, moving east at 50 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail. SOURCE...Trained weather spotters. IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Locations impacted include... Topeka, Lawrence, Ottawa, Baldwin City, Garnett, Osage City, Burlington, Carbondale, Oskaloosa, Tecumseh, Eudora, Richland, Wellsville, Dover, Silver Lake, Auburn, Overbrook, Lyndon, Centropolis, and Lebo. This includes the following highways... Interstate 35 between mile markers 143 and 198. Interstate 70 between mile markers 347 and 355. Kansas Turnpike between mile markers 155 and 205. A Tornado Warning remains in effect for southern Jefferson, southeastern Shawnee, and Douglas Counties until 1230 AM. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
