Rip Current Statement issued June 14 at 3:26AM EDT until June 15 at 5:00AM EDT by NWS Tallahassee FL * WHAT...Dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...Walton, Bay, and West-facing Gulf County Beaches. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL INFORMATION...Onshore flow will become increasingly brisk today along the Walton, Bay, and West-facing Gulf County beaches, so the rip current risk will increase through the day. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sunshine, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
