Flood Watch issued June 25 at 3:16PM CDT until June 26 at 7:00AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, south central, and southeast Kansas, including the following counties, in central Kansas, Barton, Ellsworth, Lincoln, Marion, McPherson, Rice, Russell and Saline. In east central Kansas, Chase. In south central Kansas, Butler, Cowley, Harper, Harvey, Kingman, Reno, Sedgwick and Sumner. In southeast Kansas, Allen, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson. * WHEN...Through Friday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Additional storms are expected to develop over southern Kansas late this afternoon and evening. These storms will produce high rainfall rates that may lead to flooding. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

Flood Warning issued June 25 at 4:51PM CDT until June 27 at 10:31AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS ...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Kansas... Chikaskia River near Corbin affecting Sumner County. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Chikaskia River near Corbin. * WHEN...Until late Saturday morning. * IMPACTS...At 13.0 feet, Left bank overflows extend out to about 100 yards. A low water bridge on South Sumner Road, 3 miles downstream from gage site or 2 miles southwest of Corbin, floods. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 4:32 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 12.6 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 14.5 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage late tomorrow evening. - Flood stage is 10.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown. Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov.
