Flood Watch issued June 8 at 3:31AM CDT until June 8 at 1:00PM CDT by NWS Springfield MO * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of southeast Kansas, including the following areas, Bourbon, Cherokee and Crawford and Missouri, including the following areas, Barry, Barton, Benton, Camden, Cedar, Christian, Dade, Dallas, Douglas, Greene, Hickory, Jasper, Laclede, Lawrence, McDonald, Newton, Ozark, Polk, St. Clair, Stone, Taney, Vernon, Webster and Wright. * WHEN...Until 1 PM CDT this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Additional heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected to produce widespread 1 to 3 inches of rain with localized pockets up to 5 to 8 inches. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Neosho River near Parsons affecting Neosho and Labette Counties. Neosho River at Oswego affecting Cherokee and Labette Counties. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Neosho River at Oswego. * WHEN...Until Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS...At 22.5 feet, Riverside Park Drive floods from east of Xavier Road, just south of the river gage bridge, to 100 yards east towards the water plant. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:00 AM CDT Monday the stage was 9.4 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this morning to a crest of 23.0 feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage early Wednesday morning. - Flood stage is 17.0 feet. Even 6 inches of fast-moving flood water can knock you off your feet and a depth of 2 feet will float your car. Never try to walk, swim, or drive through such swift water. If you come upon flood waters, stop, turn around and go another way. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away.
