Flood Advisory issued June 18 at 8:25AM EDT until June 18 at 11:30AM EDT by NWS Jackson KY * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Portions of east central and southeast Kentucky, including the following counties, in east central Kentucky, Estill, Menifee, Montgomery and Powell. In southeast Kentucky, Breathitt, Jackson, Lee, Morgan, Owsley and Wolfe. * WHEN...Until 1130 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 824 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected through 11 AM EDT. This additional rain will likely result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... West Liberty, Stanton, Irvine, Jackson, Beattyville, Frenchburg, Campton, Booneville, Simpson, Henry, Lewis, Jeffersonville, Camargo, Clay City, Fincastle, Ravenna, Wellington, Campsites in the Indian Creek area of the Daniel Boone National Forrest, Torrent and Zachariah. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
