Flood Watch issued June 26 at 3:03PM EDT until June 27 at 6:00PM EDT by NWS Jackson KY * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...The Flood Watch includes the Kentucky counties of Estill, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne, Whitley, Bell, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Harlan, Jackson, Knott, Knox, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Owsley, Perry, Pike, and Wolfe. * WHEN...The Flood Watch is in effect through Saturday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff from persistent thunderstorms may result in localized flooding of creeks, streams, and other low lying and flood prone locations. Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Special Weather Statement issued June 26 at 5:51PM EDT by NWS Jackson KY At 550 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Hatfield Station to Sidney to Zebulon to near Galveston. Movement was east at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Pikeville, Forest Hills, Huddy, Meta, Turkey Creek, Pilgrim, Jamboree, Belfry, Fishtrap Lake, Coalpoint, Whitepost, Conder, Zebulon, Garden Village, Phyllis, Toonerville, Raccoon, Board Tree, Woodman, and Threeforks. THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING HIGHWAYS... U.S. Highway 119 in Pike County between mile markers 1 and 24. U.S. Highway 23 in Pike County between mile markers 17 and 26. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
