The hottest conditions are expected away from the immediate lakeshores. * WHERE...Emmet, Cheboygan, Charlevoix, Antrim, Otsego, Crawford, Kalkaska, Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Benzie, Manistee, Wexford, Missaukee, and Roscommon counties in northern lower Michigan. * WHEN...From noon Monday to 8 AM EDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

Marine Weather Statement issued July 13 at 12:50AM EDT by NWS Gaylord MI At 1248 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a cluster of strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds up to 30 knots and small hail. These thunderstorms were located near Grand Sable Dunes, or 10 nm northeast of Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore over Lake Superior, moving south at 40 knots. These strong thunderstorms will likely produce winds up to 30 knots, and could pose a serious hazard for boaters. A special marine warning may eventually be required when these thunderstorms reach the Lake Michigan waters. Boaters should consider heading for shore before these thunderstorms arrive.
