Special Weather Statement issued June 28 at 9:10PM CDT by NWS North Platte NE At 910 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 21 miles southeast of Gordon, moving north at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Merriman, Highway 61 Crossing The Niobrara River, Intersection of Highway 61 and Shadbolt Road, and Intersection of Highway 20 and Irwin Road. This includes the following highways... Highway 20 between mile markers 119 and 137. Highway 61 between mile markers 208 and 226. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Intersection of Highway 20 and Irwin Road. This includes the following highways... Highway 20 between mile markers 120 and 123. Highway 61 between mile markers 210 and 216. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. To report severe weather contact your nearest law enforcement agency.
