Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have fallen. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Hondo, Bandera, New Fountain, Quihi, Hill Country State Natural Area, Mico, Lakehills, D'Hanis, Bandera Falls, Pipe Creek, Kronkosky State Natural Area, Government Canyon State Natural Area and Lake Medina Shores. Light to moderate rains continue to fall over the warned area, with an additional 1/4 to 1/2 inch possible through 5 AM. This additional rain could maintain elevated flows on area creeks and streams and also further add to the flooding of poor drainage areas. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or creeks.
